Services

How often should my furnace and air conditioner be serviced?

Once a year for each is a good rule. Have the furnace looked at in the fall before heating season, and the AC in spring before the Cincinnati heat and humidity set in. Our annual maintenance covers system cleaning, an inspection and a performance check.

Is it better to repair or replace an old furnace or AC unit?

It depends on the system's age, the repair cost and how often it has been breaking down. A single repair on a system in good shape is usually worth it. Repeated major repairs on an older unit often aren't. We'll show you what we found and give you honest options, and we won't push a new system if a repair makes more sense. See AC repair and furnace repair.

Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?

Common causes include a clogged air filter, a frozen indoor coil, a dirty outdoor unit, a refrigerant leak or a failed part in the outdoor unit. First check the filter, make sure the thermostat is set to cool, and look for a tripped breaker. If it's still blowing warm air, shut it off and call us for AC repair.

Is a heat pump a good fit for a home in this climate?

Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky have hot, humid summers and cold winters. Today's heat pumps handle much of that range well. Many homes here pair a heat pump with a gas furnace that takes over on the coldest days. Whether it makes sense depends on your home, ductwork and fuel costs, and we can talk it through during an installation estimate. For rooms or additions without ducts, see mini-split installations.

What can help with dust, allergies or humidity in my home?

Change your furnace filter regularly and use the best filter your system is rated for. Keep supply and return vents clear. A properly sized and maintained air conditioner pulls moisture out of the air in summer, so a dirty coil or a struggling system can leave the house feeling damp. Annual maintenance keeps the system clean and running the way it should.
